El Dorado Ranch San Felipe Beach

The El Dorado Ranch San Felipe beach is located in the La Ventana del Mar section of the Ranch.  If you are staying in La Ventana del Mar, you can easily find the beach.  If you are staying on the mountain side of the resort, to get to the beach, you would use the La Ventana del Mar entrance and drive down 'Av de last Costa' all the way to the beach.

Chill on your beachfront condo and take in the views

Beachfront condos in El Dorado Ranch are popular but not necessary to enjoy the beach.  However, if you do rent a beach condo, be sure to take advantage of the beach facing patios.  They're poplar place to enjoy drinks while looking out to the sea.  If you're lucky, you may catch the flying fish or dolphins in the distance.

 

Arrive early and reserve a beach palapa

The beach is well maintained.  There are a few stationary palapas to protect from the sun.  But it's recommended you bring your beach umbrella and/or tent for a couple of reasons. First you are assured you have sun protection if all the palapas are in use.  Secondly, because of the extreme tides in San Felipe, one common activity is to move with the tide.  This means you move your tent/umbrella every couple of hours as the tides moves.  This to keep you and the family or friends and close as possible to the edge of the beach.



 

Play a game of beach volleyball

Also available for guest use is the beach volleyball net.  There is one volleyball net and is used on first come first use basis.  Of course, if you want to be able to play at anytime, you can always bring your own volleyball net with stand.  There is a lot of space for setting this up.

Go Clamming

Twice a day, the tide will go out and it's  time to go clamming on the beach. If you are interested to go clamming, remember to bring your clam rake and a bucket to collect the clams.  Once you are done clamming, head to your vacation rental and prepare some delicious clam meals. Most of the rentals come with basic cookware.


 

Take an ultra light flight

Interested in getting an aerial view of El Dorado Ranch and the surrounding area?  You will want to keep your eyes out for the ultra light plane. When you see it, give the pilot a waive and he will come down and land near you to give you a ride.  Flight time is about 20 - 30 minutes and price is reasonable.



 

Have fun kayaking

One one the benefits of being on the edge of the calm waters of the Sea of Cortez is the ability to easily launch a kayak.  While there are currently no kayaks rentals availble on the beach in El Dorado, you may bring your kayaks with you.  And if you can't bring a kayak but still want to enjoy this activity, you can head into town to rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards.



 

Ride banana inflatables

A fun activity for almost any age is San Felipe's inflatable banana boats and/or sombreros on the water in San Felipe is a popular activity with vacationers. The easiest place to enjoy this activity is in downtown San Felipe by the Malecon.  However, on busy weekends, espeically holiday weekends, the rides are available from the beach in El Dorado Ranch.

 

Enjoy the sunset 

Watching the sunset whether with friends, family or alone on the beach in San Felipe is always a fun events.  You get to admire nature at its best.  Bring your beach chairs and margaritas, and you're in for a treat.
