San Felipe - Mexicali Highway Roadside Assistance

San Felipe - Mexicali Highway 5 is the highway which takes you from Mexican border town of Mexicali all the way to San Felipe. It's about a 2 hour drive through beautiful desert like terrain with the Sea of Cortez to the East and Mountains to the West. The highway is well travelled and is in great condition thanks to the governments effort at expanding and maintaining the freeway. 

If you have any car problems along this road, such as flat tire you can't change, or run out of gas, you first want to contact Green Angels. Green Angels are a Mexican government funded roadside assistance service program. From your phone, dial 078 or 911. This connects to the Green Angels dispatch center. Note that the preferred number to call is 911 as some cell phone providers have trouble connecting to the dispatch center when you dial 078. Green Angles rep explains this in the video below.

 
Alternatively, some US and Canadian issued Mexican insurance includes roadside assistance. Baja Bound insurance policy offers great coverage.
